Coffee drinkers are often concerned that drinking coffee might cause undesirable effects to our health. However, researches have shown that coffee is naturally safe if consumed moderately and it is surprisingly really good to our health. Various studies have already linked coffee to reduce and prevent risks of cancer, gallstones, Parkinson’s disease, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The anti-oxidants that are naturally found at coffee are the substances that contribute to all the said health benefits. In addition to that, these anti-oxidants are found either in regular caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee.

· Coffee and Diabetes

Drinking coffee about 3 cups a day is believed to help reduce the risk from 20-30% of acquiring type 2 diabetes. The anti-oxidants responsible for this, which helps in regulating the blood sugar level are the chlorogenic and caffeic acid. It is also thought that coffee can help in promoting proper delivery of insulin into our body tissues.

· Coffee and Gallstones

There are also studies which show that certain compounds found in coffee can prevent crystallization of bile which results to formation of gallstones.

· Parkinson’s disease and Coffee

By increasing supplies of dopamine which is a brain chemical, caffeine was able to cut down the dangers caused by Parkinson’s disease in men.

· Heart and Coffee

Studies have recommended that protecting our heart can be done by drinking coffee one or two coffee cups a day. However, an increase in daily intake from 4 to 5 coffee cups a day may lead to an increase in blood pressure level and an elevated stress hormones level that commonly takes place in the evening. This happens because a change in caffeine consumption from moderate to heavy stimulates our body to response more likely in a stressful manner. And if you add a truly stressful situation or a totally serious activity its combination with stress hormones caused by caffeine perfectly results to amore complex intertwining effect.

Therefore, increase in stress also increases blood pressure level and this can be more likely linked to higher risk of stroke or coronary disease.

In other cases, unfiltered coffee can also increase cholesterol levels which may stimulate in developing heart disease. And using a paper filter can remove the said substances partly.

Our blood vessels constrict due to the caffeine found in coffee, and contraction of blood vessels triggers the increase in blood pressure level. And if caffeine persists for over a period of time in our body, it may result to greater exposure to danger.

· Coffee and Cancer

Recent analysis around the globe has indicated that drinking coffee can prevent colon cancer. Though it is still under further study whether caffeine is liable for this, still coffee gains benefits in the reduction of these cases due to its anti-oxidant content. Antioxidants have long been known to have a cancer fighting property. And most experts would say that coffee intake of 1 to two mugs in the morning boosts us not only with energy but also it enhances our health. So the more we drink, may actually mean that the lower we are at risk.
