How To Use Child Car Seat Safely

In most countries and states, safety car seats for children and infants are required in riding cars and other motor vehicles. Although laws are implemented, researches based on accident records in most cities found out that one of the leading causes of death among children and infants were car crashes. One of these reasons is that safety seats are not being used properly and consistently.

When obtaining a safety car seat, you have to regard your baby’s age, heaviness, and height, and the seat’s compatibility with your car’s seatbelt structure. Babies must travel facing backward until they reach the weigh of 9 to 10 kilograms, and they are capable to sit up or pull to a stand, normally, at 9-12 months of age. Any baby who is not yet ready developmentally, but weighs 9 kilograms must be turned to a rear facing convertible seat.

A convertible seat is capable to be adjusted from the backward to forward facing as the child develops. It might have just a harness type belt which would work best for a baby because the protection may come up very high which some experts choose it for toddlers. They think that the straps may be twisted.

Children that weigh 18-27 kilograms are too huge for a convertible seat but very small to use a seat belt. What they need is booster seats. Designs of boosters differ based on the cars’ seatbelt structures. A high back, belt locating booster, that allows belt adjustments utilized together with a car’s lap and shoulder belts, offers the best protection.

Here are the things that you should remember in order to make your babies safe during travels.

  •  It is important to install and utilize seats correctly.
  • Follow directions in your seat manual and car owner’s manual given by manufacturers.
  • Make sure to have all children below 12 years old sit in the backseat and wear appropriate safety controls. The seat in the middle is the safest.
  • Do not place a back facing baby safety seat in a passenger side when a  front seat is equipped with an activated air bag. The impact of the airbag could kill the baby.
  • Test the safety seat’s harness to see that it fits comfortably. You should be able to fit just one finger between the baby and the straps.
  • Check the car seatbelt if it meets the seat to make sure the seat is held tightly in place. You shouldn’t be able to move it more than half a centimeter from side to side. If your seatbelt needs a locking clip, be sure to utilize it.
  • Avoid long usage of the seat outside the car.

These tips are too simple to follow. Make sure to make to have a checklist with you to make sure you won’t forget any of these tips to provide safety for your children.

Car Cleaning Tips : How to Clean Car Seat Tracks

The Ways of Cleaning the Car Seats

Isn't it good to ride in a car where air is freshly cleaned and the seats are very comfortable and safe? It is everyone's desire to seat comfortably while in a travel. But, do you think you can do that if your car seats smell bad. So, in order to avoid such inconvenience it is necessary to know how to clean your car seats.

Here are the proper ways to clean the car seats.

First, remove all the personal items, debris and trashes from your car seats to make your cleaning, easier and faster. Stretch out the seat belts so that you can include them in cleaning. Push the front seats backwards as far as they can reach and bend the rear seats forward so that you will be able to reach the dirt and dusts under the car seats. Take with you a small pail with water and small quantity of mild detergent/powdered soap. Use a broomstick and a scrubbing cloth in cleaning.

Then, use the broom in removing lint, hair and crumbs from every seat. And also, you can do the same thing with the backs, headrest and floor under the seats. Get a vacuum cleaner to sweep the debris that was not removed by broom. Use the extension nozzle to reach the sides and corners of the central area. Once you're done cleaning between the central area, you can also vacuum the floor after you have removed the mats. Put away all large things that can harm the vacuum cleaner. If there are sticky elements like bubble gums and cardies, use a napkin or wet rag to wipe them out.

Next, you need to wet the rag with soapy water and begin wiping off the fabric of the car seats. Make sure to give a more effort in cleaning off stains and other dirty areas. You need to rinse the rag often so that you can avoid transferring dirt on the other areas. Then, wring out excessive water and start working on the vinyl portion of the seat areas. You can use scrubs to remove grimes and oils. Make sure to include cleaning the levers of the seats.

The next step would be rinsing the rag in a clear water to take away the soapy residue from the seat areas. Doing this for a couple of times is recommended to ensure that you have taken away all the soap residues left on the area. If the fabric dried and you will notice some uncleaned spots on it, you use mild degreaser.

Then, dip the whisk-broom into the water with soap and start brushing the floor carpet all over the seat area. Lift the headrest to wide out dirt underneath. Furthermore, include the seat belt in cleaning. Use degreaser in taking out tough stains and dirt. And never forget to include the back of seats in cleaning to make your car seats fully cleaned.

See just how easy it is to have a clean and fresh air inside your car by cleaning car seats? Then, make sure to do the cleaning often so you and your children will enjoy your travel more. Remember that children car seats must always be cleaned to prevent them from capturing microbes that cause diseases.
